Greetings to all literateleah supporters! I hope this newsletter finds you well, rested and sated by a delicious beverage.
I’m so excited to announce the hard re-launch and official return of my commissions form for reviews of media in 2023! I begin this aspect of my work in the winter of 2021, and jumped the gun a little bit. In terms of my schedule, my experience and my critical mindset, I simply was not ready to begin rolling requests for commissions. Now, with hundreds more subscribers, about 50 more issues under my belt, countless more external publications, and a much more (humbly confident) well-rounded and practiced creative outlook, I’m ready to step back into this space.
A huge part of student journalism and freelance culture writing as I’ve been practicing is building a portfolio that both you and your future employers are proud of. Over the next year or so of my academic career, I plan to really lock in on experience and doing the work necessary to further hone my critical voice and strengthen my editorial muscles, and this newsletter is the most enjoyable aspect of doing that work! I get to do this for fun for you all every week! But with the re-introduction of commissions (which will not impact my regular posting schedule in any way) this community can begin a dialogue of support: you all can ask to hear from me on what you’d like to hear, I can gain experience in responding to specific pitches and requests, and I get paid a tiny bit more than my $15 a week at the campus paper. I’m also expanding my requests from solely literature to include film and television! Shocking to the OGs, I know.
So, if you feel so compelled, take this step with me! Fill out my commission form here and feel free to reach out with any questions in the comments below, or email literateleah@gmail.com.
