Hey y’all. It’s been a long night and an even longer Sunday, thus my midnight-hour entry into your inbox. My apologies. To keep me grounded and maintain a cute little roundup for the week, here are my roses, thorns and buds for the week.
ROSE: My meal at Culver’s tonight. I love a good Midwestern table spread, and cheese curds and ButterBurgers were what was direly needed after a harrowing group ice skating endeavor. Olive Garden’s slogan is something about feeling at home at their table, but I think Culver’s champions that sentiment in my heart.
THORN: The aforementioned ice skating outing, at which my friend broke her ankle in three separate locations and I suffered miserably as a novice skater. Said friend took on the responsibility of guiding me like a small child (not to be confused with the circumstances under which her ankle was broken), yet I persevered and was able to skate off the wall for a total of ten seconds by the end.
ROSE: Being reunited with my blessing of a roommate, and our honorary roommate from next door. Winter break was full of rest and family time that was much needed, but I did miss my gaggle of blondes and study buddies. Friends have been an integral part of my college experience thus far, and their presence makes me even more encouraged to keep doing what I love while I’m there.
THORN: Second semester is in full swing. Deadlines are foreign to me. I don’t desire to check Canvas ever again.
BUD: Through February, there are a lot of BHM celebrations to be had. I’m ready to blossom and encourage my peers through some of the events and fellowship I’m anticipating. I’ll be back with more reflections and joyful exclamations on that later.
ROSE: My friends and I have been in our DCOM era, revisiting some of the classic texts of a generation. It is not fulfilling the Princess Switch hole in my heart but it is enough.
BUD: I’m planning on rewatching The Royals again. Prepare for a review and a reckoning.
Love you guys, and I’ll be back properly next week!
